Title: Balloon Handler
Post by: darshana on May 28, 2014, 01:24 PM
Has anyone in this group ever been a balloon handler in a parade or know someone who has? I have a few questions about the flight team that is responsible for the balloon during the parade. Figure some of you in the NY/NJ area might know of someone who has been in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Q1) Vehicle Team, Pilot, Captain, Handlers, is there anyone else? I sometimes here the term balloon wrangler is that the same as the balloon handler. I have also heard of the term driver but don't know what role that is either.
Q2) What is the role of the Captain?
Q3) What is the role of the Vehicle Team?

Thanks!

I don't know anyone personally, but art director Chad Beckerman (Abrams) has blogged about the Wimpy Kid balloon, and if I remember right, he did a behind the scenes post or two about it. I typed in, "chad beckerman abrams wimpy kid balloon" and got a ton of hits on Google. Might be a place to start.
