Confession: I had to look up the meaning of valorisation. And I wouldn't want to be tested on it even now!

That was very interesting--thank you for posting it, Anne.  I always kind of got the impression that Herbert never quite understood what made Dune so awesome, because he pretty much jumped the shark with the sequels.
