Title: Picture Book Summit
Post by: Write4kids on August 12, 2015, 05:42 AM
Does anyone else know about this online Picture Book Summit?  Is anyone attending??  It sounds interesting!  -Mary

We've got so much planned for Picture Book Summit on October 3rd that it hardly seems possible to fit it all into one day.  But we did it--and here's proof! :)

http://picturebooksummit.com/picture-book-summit-schedule-of-events/

That's the full schedule of events for the big day.  Take a look and see how exciting a day it will truly be.

In case you missed it on Friday, we've just announced our lineup of exclusive editor interviews.

On October 3, you'll get the inside scoop on the world of picture book publishing from these remarkable folks:

* Laura Godwin, VP/Publisher Henry Holt Books for Young Readers
* Jill Davis, Executive Editor, Katherine Tegen Books at HarperCollins
* Elizabeth Van Doren, Editorial Director, Boyds Mills Press
* Alvina Ling, Executive Editorial Director, Little Brown
* Liza Baker, VP/Executive Editorial Director, Cartwheel and Orchard
Books at Scholastic

These are some of the top editors in the field, and they join our
already stellar lineup that includes superstar authors (Peter Brown,
Andrea Davis Pinkney and Mac Barnett) and renowned children's writing
educators (Emma Walton Hamilton, Katie Davis, Laura Backes and Julie
Hedlund).

And we still have our agent interview lineup to disclose (including some
outstanding agents who *will* be accepting submissions from Picture Book
Summit attendees!).

All from the comfort of your couch.  :)

You can't miss this historic event. But here's something important to
know:

***  Our early bird insider price of $197 ends August 15.  After that,
the price goes up to $297 - no exceptions ***

Right now, go to http://picturebooksummit.com and reserve your space.

And remember, by reserving your space, you're guaranteeing access to all
the recordings of the event, so you can experience the entire Picture
Book Summit even if you can't watch all or part of it live.

Again, it's http://picturebooksummit.com.

See you at Picture Book Summit!

Warmly,

The Picture Book Summit Team: Laura, Katie, Emma and Julie

P.S.  Stay tuned for the announcement of our agents next week.

It looks awesome, but seems a little pricey for one day...at least for my budget,  :lol4

Too pricey for me at this time. And I notice that it says "ALL" the agents (note: not editors) will accept queries from participants. But of the agents I saw listed, I think only one is closed to unsolicited queries anyway. (But maybe participants' queries will get read before slush queries.) Not trying to be a Debbie Downer at all, as I'm sure it will be full of great info and insight, and if money wasn't tight I might go for it.

I'm 'attending' and looking forward to it.  It is pricey for one day, so I hope there is a really great take away from it.  I'm curious- how exactly are participants able to interact with presenters? Or is it just a 'sit and watch presenters speak' sort of thing? If it is the latter, much of that info can be found online, so I hope it is the former.

Hi Denise, I signed up too. Gave up many things to foot the bill. As a first timer, I am curious to see how it will all work and what I will get out of the experience. Anyone done this last year? Please give some feedback.

How did this go? I'd love to know if it was worth the price.

As one of the organizers of the Summit, I'd love to hear feedback from attendees here. We've gotten great testimonials on Facebook and elsewhere. :-)
