Title: Asking someone to write a preface
Post by: Spence on June 11, 2016, 09:50 AM
I'm planning to ask one of two persons, who have helped me with my nonfiction ms, write a preface. One is also named in the dedication for giving me the inspiration and the greatest amount of help in writing my book.

Is there any conflict with having the person named in the dedication also write the preface? Is there some kind of professional etiquette in the asking?

I don't there's a conflict of interest, Spence. I'm sure your dedicatee (is that a word?) would be very much honored. Writing a preface is a great honor and possibly a burden as well.

Good luck, Vijaya
