Title: Vertical or 2 Page Horizontal?
Post by: rashad-davis on August 30, 2016, 04:51 PM
Hey there!

In your experience as illustrators, what have you preferred on projects? Have you gone more for vertical work that spans one page? Or do you find that it's more efficient/better to do a spread for both pages?

Or have you found different approaches work best for different projects? I'm in the process of finishing my own , and I'm a little stuck as to what works best.

All the questions!  :bewildered :bewildered

I match the illustration to what works best for the story. Think about flow, story elements and text placement. I have used full spread, single page and spot illustrations for every project.

Yeah, what Wendy said.  :yup

It can help visually to find a published book that is similar to what you are envisioning for your own and see how they handle it.
