Title: Magazine poem submission question
Post by: shanah-salter on March 19, 2017, 05:42 PM
Hi Fellow writers,

I have written some poems that I think would be suitable for Highlights and Babybug/Ladybug magazines. Can I submit more than one poem at a time (ie more than one poem in the same attached word document, with the same cover letter)? The poems are short (8 lines). Thanks for any advice,

Shanah

Although many mags for adults take groups of poems, I don't think the children's ones do. Both have guidelines online. If they don't say to send in more than one, I wouldn't do so.

I don't know how the new form works (they both use Submittable) but in the past (snail mail) I've submitted up to 3 short poems at a time to both magazines because 4 pages + SASE could go with one stamp. I've rec'd acceptances (1 out of batch of 3; 2 out of batch of 3) so I know they're all getting read.

Do check guidelines. Given that they're processing and keeping track of mss electronically, cost of mailing them is not an issue, so it might be best to have one poem per submittable entry.

Good luck, Vijaya
