I'm seeking feedback on whether "bald" and "call" are near rhymes in your part of the world. If not, can you say where you are?
Thanks very much!

In Toronto, no. We pronounce the 'd' clearly, like balled. So it would be like saying call and called are near rhymes. They are alliterative though.
-
In Western NY, they definitely have internal rhyme, but I wouldn't end rhyming stanzas with them if the rest of the work is perfect rhyme.

I don't think "bald" and "call" rhyme. However, I do think that "bald" and "called" rhyme. I'm in the Mid-Atlantic of the US.

I'm in Kentucky and 'bald' and 'call' do not rhyme for me.

This goes for me, too. Southern California.

If you're asking about the vowels, yes, I pronounce both with an /aw/ sound (Upper Midwest). But they don't feel like a near rhyme to me.

Same for me. I'm in FL and grew up in NJ.

Both of the above are true for me. Long Island, NY. (It would be the same in the city too.)

Okay, I think we have overwhelming agreement in the answer! Thanks very much, everyone. No more replies are needed.
