Title: Picture book for middle grade
Post by: nancy-kanyuk on September 16, 2019, 05:22 PM
I’m currently doing research for a  pb targeted at grade 5/6. The concepts like evolution, extinction etc. seem a little too advanced for lower grades. Had an opportunity to talk to an editor from Chronicle Books who said that upper elementary students will still use pbs. Anybody know of  pbs at that level?

Yes, picture books for older readers are definitely a thing, though, you're more likely to find them in the educational market rather than trade. Capstone  does these. My book For the Right to Learn: Malala Yousafzai's Story is geared to grades 4 and up due to its content (a child activist who survives an assassination attempt).  My avatar is also a pb for older readers done through Capstone/Smithsonian.
