Howdy!  I'm very new at the whole children's book world and at attending conferences.  Has anybody gone to the big winter conference and how was it - really useful?  What is the best way to try to get into NYC?  I am from a rural PA area and will have to do at least some driving and worry about parking.

If you are not use to metro city driving I would strongly recommend taking the train into the city.  There are A LOT of cabs, most driven by very aggresive drivers, as you need to be when driving in Mahattan. The roads are congested and hectic. The hotel probably has a parking lot, but at a fee and it's not going to be cheap.  If you don't HAVE to drive then don't.

Thanks so much to both of you!  My party was quite concerned how rough the driving would be and the link from the other post answered a lot of my other concerns.  Thanks!

This is the link to the info on the Showcase... https://www.scbwi.org/Conference.aspx?Con=7&page=Showcase
I have not attended in a few years and they've changed it a bit since I've gone. It's a shame they don't let the attendees browse the work anymore, that was my favorite part of the conference. David Diaz put work in one year that I attended, moved a friend and I to tears to see.
