Nicholls 2011

Discussion started on

Just a heads up...

I'm not sure if anyone on the BB is still writing screenplays, but the Nicholls is now accepting entires for the 2011 fellowship. Five Fellowships handed out, with 30k in prize money for each fellow, plus industry contacts.

Out of 6,730 scripts entered:   :clover1:

Script A got two positive reads then booted.
Script B got three positive reads and made the top 15% of all entries -- not high enough to make the quarterfinals.
Script C made it into the quarterfinals, which is the top 5% of all entries (the top 351 scripts).

Now that script gets read by at least two more judges, and then all the judges scores get combined to figure out if it makes it into the semis. The semis are the top 110 out of 351, so it's a tough cut --with 2/3 of the quarterfinalists getting chucked.

Okay, so I've made it into the quarters before, so I won't let myself get too excited. But still, what a fun email to get this morning.  :clover1:

Well, I'm excited for you! This is generally considered by the industry as the most prestigious scriptwriting fellowship out there.

CONGRATULATIONS on making it this far and here's hoping you make it into the next round.

Sorry to hear that --but the alternative is to develop the project on your own--that's what we're doing. Becoming a producer is a real big learning curve, oh yeah!

Oh, that's so cool that you are diving in like that!  :yup Yeah, that learning curve scares me. I mostly write mid-budget studio stuff, so unless I found an already established prod company to team with, it'd be too much for me. I simply don't have the contacts.

Good luck!  :clover1:
