Any ideas for a cool tech camp name?

Activities for the 10-13 age group include:

Video Game Design
LEGO Robotics
Web & Graphic Design
Stop Motion Animation
Digital Photography
Skateboarding
Zip-lining
Indoor Rock Climbing

Basically, I see it as a day camp held at a local community centre where they've got a skateboard park and indoor rock climbing wall. At the end of the 2 week camp, the group does a hike in a local park that culminates in a ride on a zip-line. So mostly they'll be doing computer stuff all day, with a bit of skateboarding or rock climbing or even just gym activities after lunch.

Ideas for names so far:

CoolTech Summer Camp
Pixelation Tech Camp
Technogeekz Adventure Camp
8-Bit Outdoorz Camp

Thanks! :)

I don't think that I'd put the word "geek" into the name, myself. I like Camp Pixelation - I'd remove "Tech" and switch the order, but that may be personal preference.

In the apple tradition, you can add an "i": iCamp

I have to admit that I did a google search for "computer summer camp" so I can't really take credit for the creation of these names, but I thought these two might be options:

Cybercamp
Camp Emagination

Since not all activities are computer based at your camp, I think that the latter could be a good fit.

I would not use "geek" or "pixie."   Pixie can be "pixilated" -- OR the little fairy, and "geek" is fine kid to kid, but is sometimes a put down depending on the context.  CoolTech is my favorite from your list.

You could combine two of your names and call it Techno-Adventure Camp.  Or, TechVenture Camp.

Thanks, guys.

Unfortunately, Mac already offers an iCamp, so I can't use that.

Believe it or not, my kids came up with TechnoGeekz!

Not sure what you mean by not using "pixie", ButterflyGirl? Pixelation is a computer graphics effect.

I like the idea of making it a TechVenture camp.

Thanks!

How about putting the word camp first. For some reason that makes it sound more like a specific camp rather than a type of camp.

Like--Camp TechnoGeekZ or Camp TechVenture

What is the genre of your story? Are you looking for a funny name, a scary name, something serious ...

Thanks, Pat!

It's MG and I'm looking for a "cool" name. One that will make the reader (along with my MC) go, "OOOH! I want to go there!"

Camp TechVenture?

I'm voting for Camp TechVenture.  "TechnoGeekz" sounds like all indoors, at least to me.  But you have a good indoor/outdoor name in Technogeekz Adventure Camp, lots of voice in the "geekz."  (Back-peddling on my earlier "geek" comment, since it came from your kids and they don't hear any put-down in it.)  I'm standing by my No vote on all things pixie related, even though of course there's Pixar, and pixelated is what you're referencing.  My brainy ten-year-old sometimes hears things literally and then in a nanosecond, he translates it in context.  He would probably think of the magical fairy-like creatures first, then computer graphics.  As adorable as pixies may be, they fall into the category of not-so-cool, even if only for a fraction of a second.

11-year-old just suggested:

Virtual Outdoorz TechVenture Camp

I dunno. It doesn't sound "just right," though.

He doesn't like Camp TechVenture. I thought it sounded good, but I'm not 11.  ::)

Will keep thinking!

Camp WYSIWYG. ;)

(computer geek term for what-you-see-is-what-you-get visual user interfaces). I like that it sounds camp-ish.

Or Extreme Geek Adventure Camp.

You know ... extreme sporting ... X-Games ... and all that jazz.

What I *really* like about Camp WYSIWYG is how it sounds like those "faux Indian" names that so many summer camps really had/have, like Camp Tikihama, or whatnot. Great idea!!

I didn't even think of that! I just love that it sounds fun and is related to computers in a not-so-in-your-face way. Oh, and it's not taken yet, which is always important. ;)

This is so brilliant!!

I can see the opening exchange already, in which somebody mishears it as "Wissiwig"
"Wissiwig????"
"WYSIWYG!!"

Rue, write fast.  I want to buy this book NOW!

Thanks, Anne! :D

We must be on the same wavelength: In the first chapter, I have someone pronouncing it WISE-ee-wig and the camp director corrects her. :hahaha
