I don't think so, Carter. I'm doing MG; didn't you say you were doing PBs?

5:50 AM Pacific.  I finally think I'm motivated to add 10,000 words to this YA.   :crossedfingers
Happy Friday writing, everyone!

I am at the hotel for the WWSCBWI conference. It is only 9:40 a.m. and I've been up FOREVER. At least I've gotten a lot of revising done. Only a two hour time difference but, gee, it's time for an afternoon nap! My first event is at 1:00 p.m.

6:37 AM Central. I have a SCBWI event today -- Wisconsin state luncheon. Looks as if I'll be there for the networking and part of the lunch. We learned last night that a very elderly aunt of my husband's died Thursday and the funeral's this afternoon. I really liked the aunt, so I guess I'll be leaving before the speaker starts.

Anne, sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope your luncheon lifts you up.

Vonna, hoping your weekend is fun and productive. And Tori, go, go, go on that word count!

I'm here and thinking. I have to decide where exactly my WIP is going, or I'll do another 3 chapters of introducing characters. Somehow I don't think that will fly. But I am getting to know all the players! :crazy

Carter, I hope your MG is going well and you get to see Vonna!

Happy weekend all, whatever you do!

Joan

Carter and I got to be in a Round Table together yesterday after all, then went to the BBer's dinner after. I was so happy to meet the other BBer's. Sisters Tara and Shanny were wonderful hosts. Now I'm up, thinking about the comments from the two Round Tables I attended yesterday.

Anne, I'm sorry to hear about your husband's aunt. I hope you were able to enjoy some of your luncheon before you left.

I hope everyone is having a fun or productive weekend. Preferably both!

The conference is still fun! More breakout sessions today. I'm up working on homework from Abigail Samoun's workshop yesterday.

Not sure where this should go, so I'll post it here, since I've checked in with you all from time to time: 54,000 words later and I am finally done with the first draft of my middle grade fantasy/adventure. Woohoo! Excited and daunted by the idea of rewriting and revising the whole thing. But for now, mainly relieved. :-)

Hi, Anthony -- I think Milestone and Roadblocks http://www.verlakay.com/boards/index.php?board=9.0
would be the place to put it... (but we won't tell). Congratulations! And come back and check in more often!

Great job, Anthony!

I started my morning reading more of the thread about brown recluses. Not sure if I'm ready to write now; I feel more like going back to bed and pulling the covers over my head (after checking for spiders).

Onward...

Not here! It's 4:45 in Western Washington. I'm up tapping out a few words before heading off to the airport, going back to Houston. I here there is sunshine there, too. This has been a wonderful trip.

Congratulations on finishing your first draft, Anthony!  :clapping

Here at 7:15, Pacific, after two mornings of food poisoning. My recommendation: don't get it!  It cuts into writing time, seriously!
It was good to catch up with all you happy AM toilers --what fun you could connect with fellow BBers at the conference!

6:40 AM. Still waiting to hear back on the revisions. Agent had what-going-around over the weekend, so it might be another few days. Still at loose ends because I don't want to start something else until I know this is ready to go. So it's cleaning/filing/doing 10-minute jobs I've put off for a while, like updating credit card expiration dates at online stores. And sleeping LATE.

Tori, I'm sorry to hear you're sick. Food poisoning! YUCK!! I had that once I was so sick I was nearly unconscious. I truly thought I was going to die.

AnneB, I hope your agent gets back to you soon!

I had a blast at the WWSCBWI conference and now I need to catch up on all those ordinary things like laundry and grocery shopping, but first, I've got chapters to revise.

Happy writing to all....

OT question: Tori, how do you know it's food poisoning and not the nasty GI bug that's making the rounds (my agent, a couple of mods and/or their kids, etc.) I always assume something ugly involving the digestive system is viral like our friend the Norwalk virus.

No, I take that back. My mom was a nurse so the default diagnosis is something dreadful, if not fatal then incurable. I'm trying to teach myself to go to the simpler explanation...

No worries, AnneB; our doc friend came over and made the diagnosis -- whew!  Yes, simpler explanations are waaay better!
Up at 6 Pacific but just now checking in, here.  A big day of revisions for my YA on tap for today.... :coffee3: :coffee3:
Happy writing, all!

(yawn) I'm here. Coffee's (yawn) on. Mind is still a bit numb but will kick in gear in direct correlation to when coffee's finished.

Happy writing, all!

Hi, JFriday! I'm here also. Feeling better than I have for a few days. Waiting for the revisions to cycle back for fine tuning -- maybe tomorrow, maybe early next week. Feeling at loose ends until they do!

6:15 AM. Today's project is learning more about Scrivener. I've used it on a couple of mss, but don't feel truly proficient yet.

Good morning! Good luck with Scrivener, Anne; I've had a free trial on my computer for about a month now but just haven't had any time to mess with it. Maybe after I finish my current project.

Good morning, Vonna and AnneB!  Scrivener -- I am impressed!  5:40 AM here in CA, and I'm working my way through my YA (I know; it rhymes!), trying to add without wrecking the pace!  Notes all over the desk (I know, Scrivener is supposed to help, but I'm a dino!)
Happy writing!

Good morning, everyone! Coffee's on, dog's walked. I'm going to look at the paper and then get started.

Yes, I'm still getting the printed version dropped off every morning. Thankfully the guy who occasionally threw it on the roof of my mini-van (or, somehow, underneath it) was replaced by someone with more accurate aim. I will be sad to see the newspaper go all digital. There's something reassuring about turning the annoyingly large pages every morning and seeing what the world was doing while I slept.
