Sources for a "How-To" article

Discussion started on

I have an idea for a how-to article that fits in perfectly with a theme for a magazine(and yes, they publish how-to articles).  However, they say that all nf articles should have good sources.  How does that work for a "how-to" article, without simply sourcing other "how-to" articles on the same subject?  Any ideas?  Are sources as important for these types of articles?

THE THREE RULES OF EVERYDAY MAGIC (Boyds Mills Press, Fall 2018)

You don't need to source a how-to unless you are introducing "facts" beyond the basic "how to do this" stuff. So most activities and crafts don't need sources. BUT a how to on some social topic like "how to bully proof your child" would require expert sources.
