Do kids still say "duh"?

My MC's mother is giving her a piece of advice that my MC finds insultingly obvious.  I would have said, "Duh" in that situation (or at least, that's what I would have been thinking.) What would kids say now?

My son is twenty one now so not exactly current, but he never said 'duh' to me. He might have said it to people his own age though.

Responding to my 'advice' I was more likely to get the 'silent eye roll.' Or 'I know' with the long suffering attitude in the voice.

Hope that helps.

The kids I know don't. They don't really seem to have a particular saying, but I've heard things like, "ya think?" and even more sarcastically, "you're awesome, dude".

I just asked our daughter this, and she said she does (which I knew), but that the "general teenage population" would say "obviously." We're in the Upper Midwest, in case it's regional.

My eight-year-old does, and now the five-year-old, too, thanks to his older brother. We're in the midwest, if that helps.

My 11-year-old son said it to me once and only once. :)  But he says it to his friends as well.

I'm another vote for obviously--I've never heard my -14yo say duh, not that I can think of (though I'm sure she has).

My kids will say both duh and obviously. Obviously probably more often than duh, but I've heard both from them :).

My kids (ages 15, 13, 11 & 9) all use "Duh," "Obviously," "No kidding," "Ya think?" and a whole range of sarcastic remarks, depending upon their moods and who they're talking to.

Oh yeah, "ya think!" is a big one... and if agreeing it's "I know, right?"
Makes my ears bleed...

My eleven-year-old would say "Duh" more often if I didn't find it so insulting. It's one of those "not allowed" put-down words in our house. He sometimes says, "Seriously?" which works in place of "Duh," but doesn't twang my ear the same way. Example: Putting his books into his backpack after finishing homework. Hover mother (me): "Did you put your homework in your folder?" Capable son: "Seriously?" Of course in that boneheaded instance, "Duh" may be appropriate.

I heard my 13 year old say this to her friends a couple of days ago and thought of this thread.
