Is a storage room still called a lumber (sp) room?  I remember seeing this term in books I read in the past and a friend and I called a funny storage room in a house we lived in the lumber room as it was too big for a closet and too small for anything else.

Just wondering?

I can honestly say that I have never heard anyone refer to a 'lumber room.' Ever. For the life of me I can't even imagine what that would be.

But of course now I've Googled it and discovered that the reason I've never heard of it is because I'm obviously not a well-heeled Brit!

I wouldn't use the term, though, unless you're writing the next Downton Abbey or similar.

Thanks, I couldn't remember what sort of book I read it in - it was ages ago.  I somehow figured it was from larger houses.  So I will not use it.   :thankyou
