Do 12-13 year-olds use the term 'epic'? If not what would they use instead if they were trying to describe something that they thought was going to be really, really good.
Ex. Esmerelda knew it would be an epic summer because her mother bought a yacht.
Thank you.

My big kids say that epic is something that happened in the past "it was epic" not for future. My son (15) says sweet and my daughter (13) says awesome or exciting.

Not quite the right age group, but my seven-year-old uses it all the time. That might mean it is a little passé for the older kids, since slang probably trickles down.

My 11-year-old has been saying "epic" a lot. He just caught it from his 11- and 12-year-old friends, so it's new.

Thanks guys. I ended up going with perfect. Awesome didn't have the tone or the weight I was looking for .. and there was sort of a repetition of the idea of things being perfect in the story. When in doubt, go for total non-slang, I guess.
