AppleSeeds magazine

Discussion started on

I wanted to let everyone know about changes that are taking place with AppleSeeds magazine. After the March 2015 issue, AppleSeeds will no longer be published as a regular, monthly serial magazine. Some of its content will be folded into its sister publication, Ask. The AppleSeeds brand will continue to be used for special projects, such as books or special stand-alone issues.

For those of you who have queried for upcoming themes, I will be passing these along to Liz Huyck, the Ask editor, for her consideration going forward. If you are interested in querying Liz directly, you can do so through the Cricket website, http://www.cricketmag.com/19-Submission-Guidelines-for-ASK-magazine-for-children-ages-7-10

I thank everyone for your continuing interest in AppleSeeds. I am continuing with Cricket Media in a new position, as Editor of Special Projects, so I may run into some of you again in that capacity when I'm seeking writers for future projects.

Thanks for posting this information, Marcia! So, I assume we should hold off querying for the 2016 themes that have already been posted?

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this, Marcia. I've only written a couple of pieces for AppleSeeds, but I really enjoyed the experience. The publication was lovely. Thanks for letting us know.

That's right, Sara- the posted AppleSeeds themes are no longer valid and the magazine is no longer accepting queries. There will be new Ask themes in March or April, however.

Marcia,
I'm sorry to hear this news about AppleSeeds. My first published piece appeared in AppleSeeds years ago, and the staff there were so pleasant to work with!

Wishing you all the best in your new position,
Sue
