I know I'm nitpicking, but which of these is correct or just sounds better?

"If you go down Main Street and make a right onto 21st..."

"If you go down Main Street and take a right onto 21st..."

Both sound perfectly fine to me. Personally, I would normally say "make". I'm from NY.

Or you could say, "If you go down Main street and turn right onto 21st . . ."

Both are understood, but here in WI I hear (and personally say) "take" much more often.

I say take a right, but like others, both sound okay to me (MA, ME, NH).

Both sound right to me (West Coaster), but I would probably say take. It sounds more like the person is in charge of where they are going, to me.

I would say 'make.' (OH)

Thanks, everyone. I really can't believe that the word "turn" never came to me. I'm on the 5th or 6th version of this MS, too! I think I'll just use turn.
