Cobblestone magazines ending in 12/2015?

Discussion started on

I went to submit a poem to Spider magazine today through submittable. And all the magazines you can submit to on there have a note under them that says "Ends 12/31/15" What does this mean? Is the magazine ending?

Oh, I hope not. The magazines are so well done! I'm supposed to have a NF article in Spider, though I have not been confirmed on a date yet. . . . makes me wonder. I'd love to hear any news if BBers have it!

Oh no. I hope not! We just subscribed to Cricket and I have an acceptance at Spider hanging out there somewhere. Maybe it's the magazines' contract with Submittable that ends 12/31?

That's what I was wondering Kell. But there wasn't any explanation. I would have thought I'd heard more if the magazine was ending. But that note scared me!

I don't think Spider is closing...at least not yet. I touched base recently regarding one of my articles and was told it would likely appear in early 2016.

No no no no no!!!!!! It's probably an end date for accepting queries or for that particular theme list. We did fold AppleSeeds and Odyssey into sister magazines, but the rest of our publications aren't going anywhere.

I should note, ODYSSEY and Muse also are merging. They will continue as Muse.

Hope they also bring new magazines that focus on diversity and science, not just themes, we need magazines that consistently present that message.
