My last book event I had a little girl that loves to write stories. Her mom is a friend of my daughter and has asked if there were any magazines that accept children authors. I told her I was pretty sure I remember seeing some but couldn't think of who they were at the time.

Anyone know of any? I did mention to her I didn't think the magazines I saw paid kids for their stories and she said that was fine by her. She would just love to have a place where her daughter could submit the stories.

I love it when kids write and want to share their stories.  :love5

Hi Sharon!

That's awesome that she loves to write and would like to see her work published!

My son had poetry published in Creative Kids Magazine http://www.ckmagazine.org/submissions/ and Magic Dragon magazine http://www.magicdragonmagazine.com/.  They are both wonderful magazines and send lovely acceptance letters to the young writers.  They send a contributor copy as well.

Some others:
Skipping Stones: http://www.skippingstones.org/submissions.htm
Stone Soup: http://www.stonesoup.com/

I recently came across this great website as I was searching for places that accept work by young writers:

:goodluck to your friend's little girl and to all young writers!

On Nancy Kelly Allen's daily blog, she lists magazine markets for kids. Here's today's:

Launch Pad. A bimonthly magazine dedicated to publishing fiction, nonfiction, poetry, book reviews, and artwork written and created by children ages 6-12.
Submission guidelines at http://www.launchpadmag.com/write/

And here's how to be included in her blog: Nancy Kelly Allen--Writing Workshop
