Hello, all you clever Blue Boarders,
For a PB, could you please help me come up with some sounds a car might make other than "vroom," "beep," or "honk"?
Thanks in advance!

Chug.
Putt. (Mine is saying both because it needs a tuneup.)
Also, squeal.

Clang, purr, rumble, shhh (wheels in the rain), wip-wipe (or some other wiper noise).

I'm excited about your book. My two-year-old has loved books with noises in them for a long time. LITTLE BLUE TRUCK LEADS THE WAY has been a constant friend.

Clank. Tic-tic-tic-tic-tic. Grind (as in gears). Squeal (as in tires or fan belt). Dush--however that's spelled (the sound a car makes as it goes through pooled water). Crack. Tink. Plink. Plunk. Click (especially with a battery). Whir.

Screee! It's the sound brakes make when you need to get them looked at. Not all horns beep or honk. Some are more blaring. I won't get into the radio and the new technology that talks to you.

I've always been rather partial to "Puckitah, puckitah, puckitah, puckitah"...

Doors slamming. Screeching when the brakes are slammed. The radio can make any kind of sound you want, including static. A car can rattle if something is loose. Things in the trunk can shift and move making sliding sounds. You can make all kinds of sounds depending on what's in the car: glass, chickens, babies, parrots, fighting kids :kickbox, talking broccoli :broccoli :carrot :bananadance , open containers of liquid :fishbowl....

Sounds like this is going to be a fun book, Eileen!

How about the old timey car noise: Awooga!
(Not sure if that's how it's spelled, but think of cartoon car noises.)

This are all so visual as well as fun to say. I want to illustrate them all! Might make good portfolio pieces. Hmm...

Mine sometimes makes the "ca-WONK" sound, right before it makes absolutely no sound at all. Fun question to think about!
