Okay, the new board format means that there's some changes in how you add a GIF to your profile and get one of those cute pictures to show up.

1. Select Profile
2. Chose "Forum Profile Settings" from the menu on the left
3. Scroll down to either "I have my own pic" (if you want to put the URL of a GIF you've found on the web, choose this, as in the directions above--you'll need to get the URL for that specific image)
or choose "I will upload my own picture."
4. If you chose "I will upload my own picture" then hit "Browse" and find that picture on your computer, wherever you've stored it.
5. To save the changes, click "Change profile" at the bottom.

My image was from a website called "animationfactory.com" which offers a lot of freebie animated gifs, hoping you'll subscribe to their service (which IS pretty cool!).  I had previously been linking my GIF directly from this site by pasting the URL in my profile.  Now I've downloaded the GIF onto my hard drive and then used the "I will upload my own picture" option to upload it.  :)

Thanks, Jaina. I'm assuming that means new people, or people who clear their cache won't be able to see my moose. I'd better change that today.

Thanks, we think so! I can only claim genetic contribution,  dh is a photographer. I spent an hour trying to pick an animation the gave up. I was going to use a baby pic with "I need books to grow".. or something .. but ol' brown eyes got me. And the "stories" he is telling lately... His life is a work of fiction!

Ta Els
He is pretty special. He is I think the happiest, most loving critter ever put on earth. I think it shows through. (He is now 5) A Shaman came up to me in a shopping centre when he was a baby and told me he was a healer and would begin healing at a very young age. I know little about native American culture but... it was one of those encounters one never forgets. It will be interesting to see how that gift is expressed in his life, as he grows.

BTW I live in Australia, so a Shaman in a shopping centre is a quite an anomaly.
Don't know why I'm telling you all this -awww, you know mums....
Cheers Julie

heh!  I can imagine that was an anomaly!
I don't blame you, gush all you want.  happy babies are nice, and they grow up to be such sweeties.
I used to attend a Pow-wow every year, in a mall.  It was fun, and you couldn't move without bumping into a shaman.   ;)

You mean posting here isn't writing :eek5:
I spent way too long here, but I call it a warm-up (for writing) so that makes it OK.
Robin your box is spooky good
Vijaya your kids look like great inspiration! Scares me to think that it won't be long before they inspire us to write edgy YA  :faint:

Funny you mention edgy YA because lately I've been in YA mode and wrote a couple of drafts for short stories ... about the time I was in highschool.  I can't even think of my kids that age right now.  Time is already flying and my son will start kindergarten in the fall ... and I know that a year from now I'll wonder how come he's in highschool.

Yep, gol darn if it didn't work!  This is a wonderful discussion board, Verla.  I arrived here last week via the SCBWI site.  We met briefly a few months ago at the north Idaho/eastern Wash. organizational meeting.  I live just south of you in Moscow, Idaho.

Thanks for that info! As you see I'm a bit late in responding but I've been dying to find out where you found that excruciatingly cute penguin, I laugh every time I see it!

I have tried so many times to get a picture near my posts. Hopefully this one worked. I tried a few but this was the only one that looked like it showed up. The wiggles are Australian so that's why I have used them.
