Hi newbies!  Gretchen, this is where I hang rather than the SCBWI boards -- I met you at the MD conference.  Nice to see you here and I look forward to your book!

(laughing) So some of you I have to know not only by your real name, but also your SCBWI handle and the name you use here!!!

I'm telling you, writing for children is not for the faint of heart!!!!

But I'm very glad to be here, meeting new people and getting to know others even better.

Welcome, Skarecrow.  Your screen name reminds me of Scarecrow and Mrs. King, hee hee.  I'm sure your life experience will add all kinds of great spice to a MG or YA!  Have fun reading the boards!

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here and struggling to figure out how to use these boards. To tell you just a bit about myself...I'm a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature and am having some small success getting a few things published. I've had stories and articles in Spider Magazine, Wee Ones, and on the ICL website. Recently a story of mine was published in an anthology put out by Blooming Tree Press and I've had acceptances (it's all a waiting process) with Fun For Kidz and My Friend.

I'm origianlly from the Virgin Islands...hense the picture of the sunset. I'm married and live in Texas and consider Vijaya to be a friend. I'm excited to be here!!!

Welcome, Bish!  There's a ton on the blueboards.  Just wade in and swim around for a while.  And don't hesitate to post a question of your own.  And major congratulations on your work! :yay  You'll find lots of friendly advice, commiseration, and fun here.  :horse  Enjoy!

Thanks ghostgirl

I go to one place and try to get back to where I was before and...get lost. But I'll "finger" it out eventually. :horse Feeling quixotic.

I think I'm going to like using all these little figures.

Does the spell check work? I keep getting a "this page cannot be displayed," message.

Hi Rainchains!

I've seen you on the ICL boards as well. I have retired from there and moved operations to this site...as it were. Expanding horizons. Sometimes I can be a little... :snail: slow...

And thanks ShirleyH for letting me know about spell check. I'll have to keep my dictionary handy! I've always loved to write, and always been a terrible speller. Aren't there some famous authors who were in the same boat?

Hello, Everyone!

My name is Maurene, and I'm new to the boards, but not to writing. I write for middle graders and young adults, both fiction and nonfiction. I've been reading through all the posts (okay, not ALL), and am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Everyone!
I am new here and very happy to have made my way over.  I am a columnist for a local magazine in South Florida.  I recently started taking the writing for children and teens course with ICL.  My first story was just published in Fandangle Magazine and I hope it is the first of many more. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Hey! I'm Judy and although I'm new to these boards, I see some familiar names from the SCBWI boards where I go by the name of Glasscage.

I'm from the Philly area and I've been writing YA and MG for about ten years.

When I'm procrastinating, you'll hear from me a lot, and when I'm actually writing, I'll be MIA for weeks at a time.

Nice to meet all of you!

Great to see you here, Judy!   ;D  It's a friendly, witty, fun group! :jump

Hello!

I'm a newbie here, too... I just posted a critique group opening in the crit group forum.

I wanted to say hi to everyone. Glad to be here!  I've heard a lot about Verla's awesome site, and it seems like a great place to be.

Nice to meet all of you. :-)
