HL guidelines states they prefer full MS over queries.....but....what if your idea is to interview/do a story on someone with a unique occupation that is related to kids stuff or stuff kids love, and it would take alot to get the interview, visit the place etc?? Has anyone queried HL with a story idea successfully, or would that be a no-no? I know I could perhaps place the story elsewhere if it is not accepted at HL but I'd love a nibble first. Thoughts? Thanks!  :writing3:

Have you looked at their index of published articles to make sure their hasn't been anything like yours published? That's a good place to start.

If you query, likely they'd tell you to send it to them on spec, which doesn't really help. I know they won't commit to buying something without it going through the "process". If you think you'd be able to sell it to another mag, write it.

Good luck with it.  :clover
