I'm on too! Not sure what I'm doing but haven't collapsed from the overwhelmingness of it all. Yet. And Debbie Ridpath Ohi is the best. She's the one who convinced me to join. Her advice is awesome!

I agree.  She posts useful info and links about writing and publishing.

blythe, people will tell you Follow Friday is a way to recommend especially good Tweeters to your own followers - and it IS good for that - but its real purpose is to tweet me (that's www.twitter.com/mike_jung), include #mikesempire in your tweet, and by doing so be awarded a silly Mike's Empire title. Ask marybethb, I believe she has a #mikesempire tattoo. FOR WHICH I AWARDED HER A SECOND TITLE

"Just in time to miss the cool bus". Sam, I love that. Me too - definitely NOT an early adopter. But I'm there anyway, even though it sort of makes my head hurt.

I've been on Twitter for ages. Gave up for a while because it was becoming a time-suck, then went back to it. It's addictive!

Even while sick with the Cold From Hell (tm) I can communicate from my sick bed (couch) in 140 characters. What's not to love?! :)

Followed several of you on this page (I'm chattyanna)! Twitter's giving me trouble, though, so I hope everything went through.

Now, another silly question. Do you peeps follow agents (or editors)? I've followed a few, but somehow I feel like an intruder (as in, here I am, a lowly unpubbed writer stalking you)...or am I just bonkers?  :duh

I joined Twitter after agents Michael Bourret and Michael Sterns recommended it at the agent panel at SCBWI last year. At first I felt weird, like I was listening in. But since they were the ones who suggested it, I held on and followed many other agents and editors. They know writers are there. Some will even put questions out to writers asking for advice on blog posts or workshop topics writers would be interested in. Some even go as far as putting out requests for manuscripts they'd like to see submitted or query writing advice. Either way, I say don't be afraid. Twitter is a networking tool. And if someone doesn't want you to follow them, they'll block you.

Twitter has a new feature, similar to what FB has, where you can list those you follow. Anyone tried it? It's pretty funny, because you can choose to show your lists which means everyone can see who they're on a list with & how many times they're listed (what a way to feed the egos of others!). It's nice, too, because sometimes you want to keep track of certain agents or editors because they give such great advice and you can access their tweets really fast. I'm not sure if everyone can access it yet, so don't get mad if you don't have it! It doesn't work very well and takes forever to make a list, but I think that's why they're testing it on some people.

I just signed up so that I could tweet about the Kidlit contest but I am in the dark about what it's all about. I'll try and figure it out but I find all the networking stuff a bit hard to understand. Am I just too old?

I have a new Twitter... http://twitter.com/JoRamseyYA

Been having a little trouble with it; my daughter tried to follow me and it told her I didn't exist. Hopefully it'll work better now. Meanwhile, I'm going to add follows from those posted here.

KimJo: Sometimes it takes a while to be searchable on twitter - I don't know why that is, but it seemed to take forever for me (although spammers were finding me quite easily!). I'm creative drought -- going to find you now.

Thanks, kwyn. Followed you back.

I don't know if it has anything to do with time... My daughter tried to follow me two days after I created the account, and it still told her I'm nonexistent. Maybe I'll have her try again tonight. She's a teen; if she follows me, her friends on Twitter might as well = instant marketing. lol

Hiya BBs!

I've finally embraced the Twitter after bad-mouthing it as a passing fad.  Some of my old Tweets made me sound like a VERY grumpy old man.

But now, I get it....sort of.  Heck, it actually helped me land a book contract, too, so what's not to love?

If you want to follow me, I'm at: http://twitter.com/tktroupe

I'm going to follow some of y'all, too.

kwyn,

I just found you and started following. I know what you mean about having a hard time finding people sometimes. I think the newer people may take a while to find? I have no problem at all when people post a link and we can just log right on. Edited to add: To avoid problems I posted a direct link to my last post above and here also: http://twitter.com/MDLorbeer

P.S. Others may want to add direct links to their posts to make it easier for people to find you.

Please do!

I'm new to twitter, and obviously have a lot to learn.  I've found, so far in the past few days, reading tweets and 'following' agents and publishers is  a great way to feel immersed in the publishing world (since I don't actually belong there yet).  What I've read from a couple of you & other authors makes me feel like I know what's going on (doesn't mean I do of course :)

here's me, please follow so I'm not talking to myself...I'll try to add stuff of value :)
