cover letters for assigned articles?

Discussion started on

I'm currently working on my first article on assignment.   :smile
It's due this month and I'm wondering what I put in the cover letter.
I already wrote a query for this article, so I don't want to repeat myself.
Any tips?

If it's an assignment, I always do something like: Hi, Editor's Name. Here's the xxx-word article, title here, that you requested on x date. I hope this submission meets your requirements.

That's it for me!

I do much the same as Jessica - and will sometimes include a note about my invoice for my writing services (if it is attached). I also almost always have a short blurb that reminds them that you're available for more writing on assignment. As a result of my first article with BC Parent earlier this year, I now have a pretty secure place to send my articles (I did one article on assignment, and they have accepted two other articles that I have written). Another regional parenting mag has also become a good spot for me.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, ladies!
Maude, I hadn't thought of putting in the bit about being available for
future articles. Great tip!
Off to finish writing it!
