Ha funny is this thread! I just got a reject from an editor who told me she found my MC unlikeable. And I was like SO?!  Just kidding. No I completey understand. It is hard to get behind a story if you don't love the characters. They have to appeal to you in some way, otherwise, why continue reading when there are 1000s of other books out there to read? but what one person may find unlikeable may not be so to another. Sometimes it all comes down to personal taste. Scarlet O'Hara can be unlikeable, but I loved her.
