This is just out there for anyone who might need this in the future:

I have a friend from high school (yeah, a long time ago :-|) who is working on his phd in History at Tulane and recently offered this:

Ff you happen to need an "expert" for anything dealing with magic, witchcraft, or esoteric currents in the late medieval period,
I am your go-to guy!

So, if you ever need info for that time period, just let me know and I will hook you up with him! He is currently writing a paper called  "Trials for Sorcery in Early Fourteenth Century Avignon." Sounds interesting. I'm not writing anything related to that at the moment, but can certainly think of some things that might work around this idea!

Ohhh, that is a lovely offer!  I'm writing a middle grade novel set in 14th century England & Scotland, and I do actually have some magic / witchcraft related questions.  If he wouldn't mind . . . that would be super!
