Guess Again by Mac Barnett, illus. by Adam Rex   I giggled, my kids giggled, and I read it to different grade school classes and they are always rolling!  :dr
Much of Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.  I've loved and laughed through that book hundreds of times since childhood.

Sandra Boynton's books usually make me laugh – the animals have such funny expressions. I love Olivia. I also loved Giraffes Can't Dance - it has great rhyme but also the illustrations of the MC (a male giraffe) getting his grooves on are priceless! Mr Men books always give me a giggle - Roger Hargreaves always manages to make funny twists on standard phrases (like Little Miss Chatterbox could talk the hind leg off an elephant).

Definitely, "The Paper Bag Princess" by Robert Munch and I think its called "What Was I Afraid Of" By Dr. Seuss. Its the story about the pale green pants with nobody inside them. Some times I take it out of the library to read. I take out all kinds of picture books to read. But I take that one out the most often. Well not that often. Just sometimes.

Go Dog, Go! by P.D.Eastman still cracks me up.

Pirate Soup   by Mercer Meyer, who also did the Little Critter series.

Almost anything by Dr. Suess! ( I loved that pale green pants story when I was a kid--also Bartholomew Cubbins and the Oobleck)

I used to love "THe Monster At The End Of This Book" by Jon Stone.  I got the biggest kick out of turning the pages in this book when I was a child.

"Down By The Bay" by Raffi is a great laugh too.

I don't know about funniest ever, but my daughter and I are both huge fans of Adam Rex's FRANKENSTEIN MAKES A SANDWICH and FRANKENSTEIN TAKES THE CAKE. I'm also terribly amused by A BIRTHDAY FOR COW by Jan Thomas.

My little guy and I have been enjoying FRANK WAS A MONSTER WHO WANTED TO DANCE by Keith Graves. We especially think it's funny when his brain falls out. :chickendance

Thanks, Lunchbox, for alerting me to the "pale green pants story" which is titled What Was I Scared Of? It's very good, and is part of a  Seuss collection I'd never seen before, Sneetches and Other Stories. The title story is hilarious and, like most of Seuss' stories, contains a great message. And he makes it look so easy!

Thanks for "fun" info.... will have to check it out.  It will be good research for my competition since the main character in my "PB-to-be" is a spider.

Oh, all of Robert Munsch's books are awesome. My girls are in their twenties now, but still if we see any of his books in the book store we have to pick them up and reminisce about how much we love them.

Some of my favorite funny PBs are: Click Clack Moo, the Pigeon books, Traction Man is Here!, Granny Gomez & Jigsaw, Always Lots of Heinies at the Zoo, Santa Claus the World's Number 1 Toy Expert, Sheep in a Jeep, and The Secret Life of Walter Kitty.

I just got two funny books and although they've undoubtedly been mentioned already, I felt compelled to add them just in case:

Chicken Cheeks by Michael Ian Black, ills by Kevin Hawkes.
What? cried Granny, by Kate Lum, ills by Adrian Johnson. (Thanks, Lill, for that recommendation several months ago... it's been a non-stop favourite since it arrived in the house!)

PS Michael Sussman, in case you're reading this, I hope you saw on writeoncon.com yesterday that your book came up as being many agents' favourite book for voice? I thought that was an amazing endorsement for you!

I just read MY NAME IS DUG by Kiki Thorpe.  The MC is the dog from the movie "Up."  I wasn't sure about a movie-tie-in book, but this one is fuuuuunnnnnyyyyy!   :dog3

I love all these great recommendations.  Thanks, everyone!

PANCAKE PIE by Sven Nordqvist was a favorite of both my children. It's about a farmer who goes to extraordinary lengths to bake a pancake pie for his cat's birthday.

A couple of new favorites to add to the list. Well, one isn't so new but my son brought it home from the school library and we all laughed when he read it:

Dumb Bunnies by Dav Pilkey

The other I found at B&N while on a research visit . . . it was so funny I read it to my kids while we were in the children's section and other people stopped to listen:

Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein    Here is a link to the book trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqB-Jue1oeA

Fun illos - fun text in both of the titles
