:yo Kirkus reviewed my upcoming book, "Whatever Happened to the Pony Express?" and whoever did the review "got it!" I'm SO pleased.

Here's a snippet from the review:

Kay picks out the salient features in her compact verse, showing a nice hand with mood and landscape: (two verses are quoted here and they said some nice things about the artwork, then went on to say...) Though the author’s telegraphic verse is effective, she adds human interest to the story’s bones by working a correspondence between an Eastern sister and transplanted Western brother into the mix. The letters are a testament to the life-changing importance of the swift completion of the mail’s rounds.

I'm so pleased that they actually "got" what I tried so hard to convey through this story - both the history of the Pony Express AND the human interest part in the letters back and forth between the family members.

Can you bribe Kirkus so you'll have that reviewer for your next books? Congrats!

I'm so happy for you.  Remember this, Blue Boarders, when you ask a library to order the book (mine likes to see a review, if possible), because a review like this is library gold.  :treasure

Heh heh, I don't believe the reviews I get for my books, but since they CAN help with library sales if you get some good ones, I'm glad this first one is a nice one. It would have been better for sales, of course, if it had been a starred review, but hey! I can't have everything. (Or CAN I? :skull)

Needless to say, great review. Congratulations.

I will read your book because most of all I think the idea is fabulous and interesting. Also, I imagine it has great commercial and educational value.
