10 Awesome Books for Fantasy Worldbuilding

Discussion started on

I just posted a list of books on my blog that have been very helpful to me in inventing fictional cultures for fantasy novels, and I thought I'd post it here too because it might help someone out (plus, many of the books are old and dirt-cheap used).

(Okay, I'm just going to post a link because it got insanely long: http://bit.ly/aoo90c)

Plus, I'd love to hear anyone else's favorite books for world-building inspiration. (There are some topics I didn't even touch on, and some wonderful books I'm sure I don't know about!)

Just posting to say I think your list is fabulous!  I wish I had some additional books to share.  Next time I'm at the library, I'll be looking for some of these books!

Wonderful list, thanks! I like the idea of the detailed pictures and descriptions.

Some books I've used include the See Inside series (See Inside a Castle, See Inside a Submarine, etc), the Writer's Guide To series (...to the Middle Ages, etc), and Time Life's This Fabulous Century (The Twenties, The Thirties, etc.) which is mostly pictures.

KISS ME KILL YOU (Entangled Crave, June 12, 2017)
@lchardesty all over the internet

Thanks for the love! And the suggestions. The This Fabulous Century series is a fun one, and I love anything that lets you "look inside". Also, the myth/lore suggestions are good additions. History is my bread and butter so I stuck to those, but there are some great myth books out there. (I probably should add more to my collection, in fact.)
