Congratulations, Ev! And I noticed your lovely puzzle in the Jan./Feb. issue of Pockets, too! January will be a good month for you.

Thanks, everybody. And congratulations to you on your basketball story, Abigail!  :yay I really liked it. And how cool that it's the very first story in the issue.

My  niche is drama so I am still writing for Plays, the drama magazine for young people.   I've done over a dozen plays for them since 2001.   My next one is coming out in the January-February 2016 issue.    I've submitted to Cricket over the years but have yet to make a sale.

I had my first acceptance for Hello!! So excited!

And, Abigail, I had to pull out my Pockets and read your story. Enjoyed! Didn't recognize you as a blueboarder when I got it. (But I will from now on.) Congrats, too, Ev!  I have a poem in that issue.

Jesse-martin, I'm in awe of anyone who can write plays. Congrats!

I looked through my copy and found your winter poem, Cindyb! I really admire all your poetry sales. I tried it for a while, but never managed to sell a poem. Now I'm focusing on fiction, and having a little bit better luck.

And I'm so excited for your Hello acceptance!!!

Yay, Cindy, on your poem!! :hurrah I like it! Perfect for winter.

It's so fun to know other people who are in the same issue with you. (One of my critique group buddies is also in the issue--with her 'list.')

Congrats, Jesse, on all your published plays!!  :wow  That's impressive.

I know this thread is old, but I just have to say... I just waded through all archived 8 pages of kudos and questions and advice. As a newbie who just received her second rejection for a magazine article this afternoon (I was sooo hopeful on this one, too!) reading through all of these posts was more inspiring than discouraging even in this current market. Thanks for sharing the love, people. I will keep persevering...

It's great to have you here, MK. Hugs on those rejections. :hug

Perseverance really is the key. After you sub that piece some more, if you think you've run out of possibilities, you might find it helpful to read the article in this month's issue of Writing for Children's Magazines. Pascale has a great suggestion in it. (http://evelynchristensen.com/mags.html)

Best wishes to you!

Thanks to Evelyn, I learned about an interactive on-line children's magazine called Bumples.  Thought they might be a good fit for a story I used to tell, and sure enough, it's in the June issue!  (It's called One Funny Day, and they created an interactive matching game to go with it.)  Also happy to have a poem in this month's Hello!, the Highlights for babies, called Nana and Me.  With all the picture book rejections I get, magazine sales really keep me going.  :trailer
