Dig submission

I was just looking through the 2011 theme list for Dig, and noticed a topic that matches an unpublished article that I have already written & polished.

I'm assuming, based on Dig's guidelines, that I should submit the idea as a query, rather than send in the completed article? This is a short science article that has already gone through expert review, so I have documentation of the review, as well as the bibliography. The problem is, I did this all a couple of years ago. So perhaps it's considered out of date. The topic is not something that would change, though!

I would go ahead and send it as is, with an explanation of why it's complete and that it's already been reviewed. If nothing else, it's a good sample of your writing. Would you be willing to revise it if asked?

Or.... in keeping with their guidelines you could send a query letter and in your query letter explain that you have an already written piece with expert reviews to boot!   You could ask if they would like you to send the completed article and state willingness ( if you have the willingness) to revise if needed.

I only suggested sending the entire article because I work for DIG.

Thank you for the advice Marcia---and yes Laura, I agree it's cool!

Yes, I'm definitely happy to revise the article, if they want me to!  I was just hoping they'd at least read the finished piece, and not chuck it in the recycle bin because it's not a query letter. I shall dust it off and send it on out!
