This site is run by the New Zealand National Library and has New Zealand Newspapers from 1839 - 1945.  It's easily searchable, and it has some of the dates that are behind the paywall at papers like the New York Times.

So, if you want to read contemporary newspaper accounts on historical events, it's a great place to start!  After all, a wire service report is a wire service report, no matter which paper prints it.

Anyway, I'm finding it pretty helpful for my own random questions, and I thought you guys might enjoy it too!
