I just tried to start a new topic in the Education area, and got a rather cryptic system message telling me I couldn't do it. Is it just me, or is there some problem with the system?

Thanks!

Can you try again, Harold, and if it still doesn't work, tell us exactly what error message you get?

It happened to me the other day too ... something about PHP ... I tried several times ... then I ended up posting a test message ... that worked ... so then I went in and tried to modify it to the topic I wanted ... no go ..... finally it took .... but yeah the message was about a PHP error and reconfiguring something something and not having permission ....

This happened to one other member, and I wasn't able to figure out why. Will keep investigating...

That's the exact message I got. It seems to be intermittent. Harold, try posting using a different subject ... even if you just change the case of the subject line .. that worked for me

It seems to happen sometimes when you include a link.  If you're posting a link, try deleting the http part and start with www and see if that works.

Harold, I was having this problem a while back and started this thread:

http://www.verlakay.com/boards/index.php?topic=52190.0

Don't know what the problem is/was, but I hope it can be figured out. It has been better for me since the board was upgraded.

p.s. while looking for that thread, I got the error message while trying to search (but I think that's because I used an apostrophe in my search).

Update: I just tried to start a new thread and got the error. When I changed the link (from a bitly link to a regular link), it let me start the thread.

It happened to me when I wasn't using a link .. but it didn't like my all caps in the subject line apparently ... or something about the original message ... there was no link in any of it.

Well, I have now been able to post my message, but as was suggested I had to take the links out of the bulletin board format and just put them in as URLs starting with "http:"--which I did by moving them to the end of the message.

It looks like some kind of permissions issue, FWIW.

Yes, and I still haven't a clue how to get it fixed, Harold. Hopefully, it's something that a future update of our board will fix for us... because there's not much I can do from my end. It's something that is "in" the way the board is set up to work.

It also doesn't seem to like punctuation sometimes in the title, like quotation marks...

The odd thing is that I am able to post embedded links in some of the other boards. It was only the Education board that was finicky...
