I just posted a review of A Family of Readers, which is basically a guide to children's books--what's good for different age groups, what's expected in different genres, plus lists of recommended books. It's ostensibly for parents, but really it's also for anyone who wants a guide to the children's book landscape.

For years, I've recommended The Essential Guide to Children's Books by Anita Silvey, which is good but more of a reference book. This I think is easier to browse.

Anyone else read it?

No one else has seen this? I'm surprised. It's a very useful book...

I hadn't heard of this title before, but now that I've read your review I'm going to get myself a copy!  Thanks.  Seems like it will be a valuable resource.

For a book from the editors of the Horn Book, it got very little review coverage...
