There's a 4-year-old avid reader, space enthusiast, who I'd like to buy books for. Any suggestions for books related to the solar system, rocket ships, planets, etc.? Both fiction and nonfiction suggestions are welcome.

Well. . . my agent-sister's newest PB is about a girl going to the moon in her bathub!  PELLY AND MR. HARRISON VISIT THE MOON by Lindsay Ward (Kane Miller/Usborne).  It includes roasting marshellows on the sun to make S'Moons!!  Yum!

You're never too old to become younger. - Mae West

My daughter is crazy about "Saturn for my Birthday".

We first read it when she was four. It's published by Sylvan Dell. My daughter really enjoyed coming up with cool names for the moons of Saturn and she learned some amazing facts.

I have the perfect picture book for your space enthusiast:

Going Around the Sun: Some Planetary Fun by Marianne Berkes.  The illustrations are by Janeen Mason.  She’s one of our fabulous SCBWI Florida peeps.  It's gorgeous:

(Tried to post the book cover, but I'm experiencing technical difficulties.  LOL!) :sun

These are great! Keep 'em coming. Even if I don't purchase them all as gifts, I'm going to pass the suggestions on to the boy's parents. They keep their house well stocked with books and I think would appreciate knowing about all these titles.

I've published a book called THE WORLDS AROUND US, about an imaginary journey to each of the planets in our solar system.  Everything in it is based on fact, and it took me almost three years to write it.  I interviewed several astronomers.  But basically, I tried to make it fun--and,yes, it's a picture book for young children ages 5 to 8.

My son loved Moonshot, which is about the first moon landing. It is a beautiful book. He also liked Willoughby and the Moon.
