"The first six words I'll teach my pup are dig a hole and fill it up."   P.D. Eastman, 1973, "I'll Teach my Dog 100 Words"

The first words of one of my favorite P.D. Eastman books from the Bright and Early Books for Beginning Beginners series started by Ted Geisel, A.K.A., Dr. Seuss. As a child, the books in this series played a major role in my ability to read, rhyme and imagine. I remember being filled with joy as I began reading the books on my own, each one over and over, rhyming, laughing and exploring. The pictures, the simplest of words, they went together so beautifully that I soon spun off into other stories and words in my mind, crowding it full of my own rhymes, my own stories, my own desire to create, imagine and dream.

If not for these books I do not think I would write children's books today!

Thank you Dr. Seuss!!!
