I need more book recommendations about as much as I need a pet skunk or a metabolism slower, but nonetheless, just out of curiosity...Where's your favorite place to read about new books?

Here! :D
Also, when a book I've critiqued sells.
And Scholastic book orders. And recommendations from people whose taste I share.

I, too, find book recs here. And on Twitter. I also look to see what my friends recommend and if there are any getting good buzz and reviews.

I love the Allen County Library Mock Awards lists and blog. My favorite of their lists is the Mock Sibert Awards because I tend to hear more about the fiction and picture books in my writing circles so this fills the non-fiction need.

I don't go by booklists. I just go to the library and browse. There's really not a reason I don't use booklists --- I just forget they are out there.

Blogs. I subscribe to a couple that post a lot of book reviews. Ashley's Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing is great, and so is Stacked.

Like Lill, I just browse the library and bookstores. Of course, I also attend ALA periodically...

Here, the new books tables at B&N and my local indie bookstore, agent recs on Twitter and blogs, and then the recommendations on Amazon when I'm browsing books.
I also like the newsletter B&N puts out.

Betsy Bird, who blogs for School Library Journal as Fuse 8.
But I also check reviews in Horn Book, Booklist, SLJ, PW, Kirkus via email newsletters, their websites, or Twitter.

I basically do the same as Lillian and andracill, but with a slight twist. I pick a few books that I really like the cover (shallow I know), a few that the cover leaves me with little to no interest and a few that just sound great from the synopsis. It's sort of an odd method, but I find that it varies what I read.
