What do you think the average teenage girl would know about the word jihad?

Depends on her age and where she's from. But if it's an american teenager, say 16, probably not a lot. In the US it's used as a synonym for "terrorist attack" and always has negative connotations.

I agree with MissesDash -- teens in the US will equate it with terrorism.

Depends on how much parents discuss world issues with their children. It would also depend on how old and where the child lives. My niece is 13 and I know she knows what this word means or at least can associate it with Islam but she knows a lot about cultures and religion.
