Carus magazines -

Discussion started on

New!
I've only recently begun submitting to the nonfiction side of Carus' magazine family, a few original format puzzles sent off to Dig & Calliope for instance, and when I receive a rejection note, (sigh), it's written on my query letter, but the work itself is not returned.  When submitting fiction to the "bug" side of the house, my work has always been returned.

Just wondering if anyone knows if this is their standard practice?

Tx in advance for any insight.

The six Cobblestone magazines (Cobblestone, Dig, Calliope, Faces, Appleseeds, and Odyssey) have a stated policy of not responding to unused queries and not returning submissions, mostly because we usually receive queries, not complete stories or articles. However, the Dig and Calliope editor does often respond to submissions, but if you want your work returned, you'll probably need to specify that you do.

Thanks Marcia,  I did see that policy listed for Cobblestone, couldn't find a similar entry for the two magazines I'd submitted to. Appreciate the info, and feel pleased to have received the polite no thank yous that I have.
