I'm editing a ms for a new client and his MC uses a tape recorder in the story and it's a big part of the plot. This feels so familiar to me but I can't place a book where that's been done. I know there is one, I just cannot remember it. Anybody remember a middle-grade or YA where the MC carries around a tape recorder?

Nope, it's not Jay's. Thanks, though. It's some other title nagging at the back of my brain. I hate it when I go blank.

Rick Riordan's The Red Pyramid uses a tape recorder to capture the story of the Kane siblings (so, technically, the book is the transcript of the recorded story).  Could that be it?
