"There are just not enough hours in the day..."

Do you say this to yourself often? I do! Then join us! Steal some magical quiet hours in the early morning (or late at night) to WORK!

EARLY RISER TIPS:

- Set the alarm for 5 min before the target work-time. (pref before family wakes up) Commit to this hr for the week. (5 days)
- Prep the coffee maker (or teapot) so all it takes is a push or turn in the morning.
- Have inspirational wake-up music ready to play on computer. (after a while, you will skip this and get to work ASAP)
- Sleep an hour earlier than usual. DVR your regular late night shows. Dream about all the work you'll get done!

RULES:

- No emailing anyone, but your Early-Riser buddy (if you have one). I do. I email Arty and Ro to make SURE they are up. Accountability is key. But checking in on the boards is great, too! (Find an early riser buddy in your own time zone for x-treme commitment)
- No surfing the web. (Not even here! Just check in, and go!) No reading the news, either.
-STRAIGHT TO WORK!

CHECK IN here in the morning. Post what you've accomplished in the hour (or two) here after. Word count is not important. Sometimes, thinking or mulling over something is equally productive. Warning: Inspiration may strike at this hour.

Try it just for a week! You will be amazed at how much you'll get done. Your body will naturally adjust. I stopped using an alarm clock after 3 days. I'm on my 2nd wk and can't believe I've slept through these valuable hrs all of these years.

If you're ready to commit, declare it here and now! Your brain will help you do the rest. Seriously.

Get to working! :whip

I'm not only the Early Risers President, but I'm also a client!  :cheerleader

6:57 AM. No moral victory this morning. T-storms, just barely above freezing, brrr. I made enough progress on the WIR last night that I let myself stay in bed. But now, reality time.

I'm up, but wish I was still asleep. This is conference weekend for Houston SCBWI, so I'm looking forward to that, but I've got to get some serious writing done today.

Five hours later, I just wrote The End.
Whew!
Now to revise. After lunch.

6:50 AM. Hoping today is as productive as yesterday. And that I get my 6 a.m. mojo back soon. Lots of exercise yesterday, so maybe that's what tired me so. Or maybe it was just the ebb and flow of hormones...

Morning, all -- I know, such a slacker, but still trying to shake the Adorables' cold.  :coffee3: :coffee3: I am motivated, though, to move on with revision of my new YA, trying to step up the suspense and cut exposition in the beginning.  Why do my manuscripts always have too much backstory in the beginning chapters?   :2brickwall Aaaargh!
Verla, keep that computer off during T-storms!  You can always use a pencil and paper....:)
Happy writing, all!
Aloha,
Tori :palmtree

I hope today finds you fully recovered from the Adorables' cold, Tori, and I hope you got a lot done yesterday, Anne. I'm trying to revise a scene or two before heading out to the Houston SCBWI conference this morning.  Have a great day!

Hi, all! I've been AWOL for a few days. Tori & Verla, I often write partial scenes at work with pencil and paper. Then when I switch it to the ms in my computer I get even more ideas. See, Verla, maybe you'll have a new favorite writing time.

Bring on those thunderstorms!!

Back to planning more on my WIP.

Happy writing, everyone!

7:10 AM. And it's snowing in Wisconsin. OK, just a sprinkle, nothing accumulating, more like a misty rain at 32º. But still. Productive day yesteday.

7:30 AM. And still so sleepy that I wandered off to brew my tea and drink it w/o pressing the 'Post' button!

6:41 AM. Light dusting of snow. The low this morning, according to BOTH of my weather widgets, is supposed to be 45º. Somebody didn't get the memo, as it is 31º now!

When I walked the dog a little before 6 a.m. I realized the dark morning walks are over. Yay! Coffee's on and I want to get something down before I leave. Tori, your 'Aloha' and palm tree always make me smile! Go, Anne!

Happy writing morning to all!

Dog's walked, coffee's on. Tori, I thought of you. I'm having Kauai coffee this morning from Hawaii. :sun

Got my notes ready last night, so as soon as there's some caffeine in me, I'm working!

I've been working already, just didn't check in.  My latest WIP still seems to be in the opening, and I'm in chapter 3. Not good. Major revisions ahead.

Anne, yay for hitting that send button!

Tori, JFriday and AnneB, I hope your writing went well this morning, special good wishes to you on your revisions, JFriday!

I've been up for hours, getting ready to head out to the WWSCBWI conference and polishing those first 500 words for the Round Table sessions one last time.  :suitcase I know my husband and son will eat nothing but pizza and BBQ all weekend, but I'm sure they don't mind.  :pizza :pizza :pizza

I still check in here, even though I have been a sleep-inner recently. The break has been good for my MG.

Vonna...yay! Maybe we will roundtable together?!
