I'm here, too! Good morning JFriday!
Darshana, congrats on finishing the revision. Even if you have to tweak it more later, every step forward counts.

I'm here, giving a pb a last once-over before sending it to my critters. Again.

Happy writing day!

I was up late doing schoolwork last night so I "slept in" (until 6:00) this morning. No writing this morning. :(

Oof, it was hard to get up this morning. Checking in a little later than planned. Short writing session today, but every bit counts, right?

Yep, every bit counts. For what it's worth, I'm on Pacific time, so it looks like you got here at 3:51 a.m. Impressive!

Seems like my check-in times are creeping later and later lately. I need to get on top of that. But in the meantime, I need to write.

I'm here, just reviewing all my feedback on a PB and trying to figure out what changes to make for the next revision.

I forgot to check in but I did get up to write. My goal is to finish this revision pass by Easter, and I'm getting close!!  :running They were major structural changes this time, so I'll need to go through it at least once more to polish it up before sending it back to my agent.

Glad to see so much productivity in the group! Yay for getting back into the groove, Melissa. And darshana, good luck with figuring out how to make the best use of your feedback.

Thanks, MVP. Sounds like you've set yourself a steep goal. Best of luck with it!

I got up later than usual this morning, but I'm hoping to do a few minutes of writing before the day gets rolling.

I'm here working on my PB. Got my hubby to take the girls to gymnastics class. My goal is to get this PB revision done by tomorrow night. Hoping I can do it and be happy with the revision.

I'm here. I'm determined to get the first pass on my revision done so it can rest overnight. So frustrating I can tell something more is needed in a beat but I can't find the words.

Melissa, that is a weird rejection. I mean, feedback is a good thing, and it's nice of the agent to let you know if there's a comma issue that needs attention. But it's odd to cite that as the reason for rejecting a manuscript when it's such an easy fix. I wish my agent thought the only thing I needed to do to my manuscript was remove some extra commas!

Anyway, I'm here. Also, tired and grumpy. Mondays.  :P

I agree, Miriam, which is why I think that she was really trying to say she just didn't connect with it strongly enough. I wish that were an easy fix.

Anyway, I'm between freelance projects today but have some childcare set up because I thought it was going to take me longer to meet my last deadline, so I have a rare and awesome full day of writing ahead of me. Woo hoo!

(I don't normally obsess over rejections, but this comma thing is getting to me. I couldn't hit "send" without looking back over my message to double-check the punctuation. At least four of the five commas I've used so far are required according to basic comma rules. I'm not sure whether the comma after "anyway" is required or just permitted. But I get distracted when people don't use commas in that situation because it clearly indicates a pause. Gah!)

Melissa K, sorry about the rejection. But I agree it sounds like the story wasn't for her. Can't help you will the comma issue as I'm not the greatest with grammar. I have a run-on sentences habit. :-(

I got my revision done Sat night. So was feeling good especially when I got the green light on it the next day from my mentor. Just a few more changes but nothing big. I am thrilled! Now that I have four polished PBs, I will start my agent search in the next few weeks. Not sure if 4 PBs is enough to hook an agent, but I guess it's time to find out.

In the meantime I want to get a draft for a new PB done for my final mentor critique. So I will be here more the coming week. And then it is off to start learning about novels and start working on my YA/NA historical fiction idea!

Back to my day job work.
I'll be back tonight.

Congrats on getting that revision done, darshana! Sounds like an exciting time for you, with lots of plans in the works! Keep us posted.

I got up late and my 3 year old got up early, so my writing time was cut short, but I got a little done. It would make a world of difference if I could get an uninterrupted three-hour chunk of time to write. I have the day off work on Friday, so maybe I will stay up late on Thursday night and see what I can get done. Depends how brain-fried I am after teaching, I guess. Maybe my class will be calm and peaceful on Thursday. Like this:   :writing3 :writing3 :writing3 :writing3

Oh, who am I kidding? They'll be anticipating their day off. They'll be more like this:
 :running  :yeah :lalala :yeah :running

Darshana, congrats on finishing that revision, and MVP, I hope you get that calm and peaceful class on Thursday.

I'm starting late this morning, but I did an eight-hour writing day yesterday. I spent most of my time assessing what I've written of my YA and making a rough plan for how the story will go forward. I've been wanting to do that for weeks, but this was the first time I'd had the large chunk of time I needed.

Thanks MVP and Melissa K!
Melissa K - that is great that you had time to step back and assess your YA. Eight hours that is great.
MVP - hope you are able to find some quiet time.

Just trying to get my head wrapped around this new story. Hoping I will get some clarity by the morning on which way to write it.

I've always avoided this thread because I want to try to go to bed earlier. But since I'm up, I'll pop in and say hi!

I'm finishing revisions for my editor. I've been finishing for a week now. I may be finishing at this time next week.  :shocked

Happy  :writing3 and  :paint to all you early risers!
