That's good news, Darshana. Crossing my fingers for you.

I'm here this morning, but just barely.

Forge ahead, Darshana.
Speaking of which: I was looking over a story I gave a headmistress last year, complete with scrawl-mark revisions that I had taken out chunks of text I deemed unnecessary. She then underlined them and said I should leave them in because they were integral to the plot. :uhuh
Has that ever happened with you guys? :help2

Thunderingelephants,
Something similar happened to me, although I did it to myself. A while back I went through one of my pb stories because I felt it was too long. (I've been trying to keep them under 500 words.) I ruthlessly cut the story down, but was never satisfied with it. Recently I took another look at the story and put stuff back in...stuff that, as your headmistress told you, was integral to the plot.

I'm not saying the story as it stands can't be improved upon, but I am much happier with it now. It was a valuable lesson to me; story trumps everything. If it takes more words to tell the story properly, it takes more words and that's all there is to it.

I hope you find a way to tell your story with the fewest number of words while maintaining the integrity of the plot!

Good morning, everyone!

I put pencil to paper yesterday and wrote an absolutely horrible first draft of that pb. *rolls sleeves up*
Have a wonderful day!

Tori: please tell me you actually mean a pen and paper not hands to keyboard?  :writing3 We're a dying breed. :sadcry :sick2
I hauled myself into my choffee haven today with my own pen and paper and did nothing but think. However, I am calling it work because I thought a lot and read over my manuscript. Now I must surrender the laptop and let the furry laptop climb onboard: John wants to do some work.
Venus: don't know who said on the boards somewhere but it is true when you can always see something that needs to improved in your manuscript or the plot. Sometimes you just have to leave it and stop writing.

By the way, I am sharing a photo with you because I love my cat but also to emphasise why I go elsewhere to write. Furry and electronic laptops don't work well together!
Happy writing!

Thanks, Tori. I needed the encouragement this morning since I got up early after a bad night of sleep. Hope I can get a little writing in and also take a quick nap before my little guy needs attention. I hope you had a great time with the Adorables yesterday!

Good morning! I plot and plan with paper and pen in the initial stages. I also storyboard with images/pictures, creating a big novel journal to inspire me.  :writing3 Don't often check in but waving a hello from ye olde laptop.   :dogwalk

And, Thundering Elephants, your picture would make a good painting. Possible titles:"Writer and Cat" or "My Muse and Me"

Checking in for a short writing stint before I head out of town for a week's vacation. Hoping to write while I'm gone, but I don't know if I'll be able to get online or not.

Congratulations on finishing thunderingelephants! Doing the jig with you. :bananadance
Have fun on your vacation Melissa! :beach

Still not back on a routine, but I have made sure I spend 20mins every morning to doing research for my historical fiction novel. Clearly I will need to find more time or speed up my reading, else it will take me forever just to complete reading this first NF book much less get started on my story.
Also need to work on a PB revision this week.

Happy Writing.

Had trouble sleeping so I finished my PB revision and sent it off to my critique group. Time to go back to bed.

I'm back from my vacation and feeling eager to get back into a routine. I managed to write most days while I was gone, but I kept finding holes in my plan, so I didn't make much forward progress. Hoping I can do better now that I'm back home.

Darshana, it looks like you're plugging away. JFriday, hope the revisions are going well.

Checking in here, too, till we leave today for babysitting the Adorables till Monday; daughter and son-in-law traveling back east for her 20th (gasp! really?) college reunion, so no more time, though Adorable 6 yo granddaughter always asks if she can help me with my story. Precious moments!  :love5
Darshana, JFriday, and MelissaK and anyone else who wanders by in the throes of creativity, do have a lovely and productive and restful weekend  :writing3!

Thanks, Tori. I hope you have tons of fun with the Adorables. How old are they?

Slept a little later than I meant to this morning, so I need to dig in fast if I'm going to get anything done before my little guy wakes up.

Didn't get to a new PB revision, hopefully during lunch today. I did do my 20mins of research reading.

Sounds like you're plugging away at your research, Darshana. What historical period are you researching?

I've been sleeping later, but so has the wee one, so I've been having productive writing sessions all week. I'm crossing my fingers that this sleep schedule sticks because I'm feeling so much better rested.
