Missed two mornings in a row because life got in the way, but I'm stealing a guilty hour at a coffee shop this afternoon.

Ooh, an hour in a coffee shop sounds marvelous. Hope you enjoyed it, Melissa.

Just research for me this morning, no actual writing. I found some interesting stuff that I think will be helpful, though.

Thanks Melissa! Hope you are getting some good writing in.
I am kid-free for two weeks, so looking to get some solid writing time or at least brainstorming. ;-)

For a week or so, my son has been waking up about fifteen minutes after I start writing every morning. Today I dragged myself out of bed an hour earlier, and the baby still woke up fifteen minutes after I'd started. I got to feeling pretty low about this, so I decided to get us both out of the house. I ended up at the grocery store at 6 a.m., pushing my stroller around in circles, putting nothing in my basket and quietly weeping.

Not my best morning, in other words. But I had some insights on my main character, so it wasn't a total wash. Nothing is.

Thought I'd take the opportunity to send a :hug to the rest of you. If you're struggling, you're not alone.

So sorry to hear Melissa. I do hope this new baby routine is temporary.  Glad you were able to get some insights on your MC. Sending you :hug

Oh, Melissa, that stinks. It's so hard to get little ones to settle into a decent routine, and it seems like as soon as you manage it, something happens to upset it--they get sick, or grow a tooth, or you go on vacation, or you hit daylight savings time, or, or, or.... At least that was my experience. Hope you find a writing time that works for you! And good for you, using your time to develop your character, even while dealing with that frustration.

Hi back, Darshana!

Thanks for the sympathy. And yeah, MVP, sleep stuff is exactly like that for us. Most of the time I can just go with the flow, but once in a while--like yesterday--I have a rough day. My little guy is completely awesome, though, so it's worth the occasional breakdown in the produce section.

Glad to see you both!

Only got one sentence written in the early morning, but I'm stealing an hour this afternoon.

Darshana, I'm constantly impressed by how consistently you find time to write. Hope it's going well!

Back to writing again, relatively productive. I finished a 500 word fairy tale for middle grade, as well as a 1,345 word Science fantasy short story for New Adult. Also finished a middle grade contemporary 500 word story.

Nothing like a good break kick start you back into gear.

Finding how much of a night owl I am plus quietness helps creative process.

I got knocked out of my early morning schedule after getting attacked by a neighbor's dog and spending a late night at urgent care on Saturday. The dog tried to attack my baby in his stroller, and all I could do was put myself between them. The baby's okay--he didn't seem to realize anything bad was happening--and the bite I got is going to heal fine. Still, I spent a couple of days feeling frazzled and not writing (except to write down how that dog experience felt). Today I'm trying to get back onto my schedule and back into my story.

Looks like there's been a lot of productivity around here. Darshana, an organized office sounds great. MVP, I'm with you--maybe I'll do that someday. Sarah, your "relatively productive" day sounds amazingly productive to me.
