Missed this morning due to a crying baby, but I've made an executive decision to steal an hour from the day job and do some of my own work.

Darshana, I'm not a teacher, although I've done some teaching in the past. I'm a freelance education writer. At the moment I'm working on a 12th grade English textbook.

MVP, it sounds like you are actually a teacher. What grade do you teach?

Stay warm, everybody!

Good morning y'all!

TGIF TGIF TGIF TGIF

Well, I've done it... I've gotten up by 5:15 every day this work week to write.   :clapping and  :zzzz I'm happy with my writing progress, but  the sleep deprivation is getting to me. Time for a weekend so I can  :zzz.

I teach first grade. I like that it's an active job with lots of room for creative expression, and that it gives me the ability to make a real impact on children's lives. But it's exhausting. Have I mentioned that I am really tired?  :zzzz :zzzz :zzzz

Nevertheless I'm going to buckle down and get some writing done before I have to start packing lunches etc.
Melissa K, hope you managed to get some time away from the day job to pursue your own writing!
Darshana, yay for thinking time! That's an important part of the process too.
Tori, congrats on the pb progress, and enjoy your coffee!
AnneB, have a good day!

Happens to me all the time. I mean, obviously I don't mix myself up with other people, but I get confused about which blueboarder is which.

MVP, congrats on the awesome work this week! I'm impressed that you're able to get up early and teach first graders. Hope you get some :zzzz this weekend.

I'm here and diving in.

Yup I am late again with the check-in. But I am doing my PB work before checking email, getting on-line, before doing anything .. except for my cup of lemon rose tea.  This morning I finished my PB revision and sent it off.

MVP - Yeah. Getting up at 5amish is quite a task! Congrats! Just so I don't confuse you with Melissa again. What is your name?
Melissa, Tori - Happy Writing!

Darshana, that is a wonderful feeling, isn't it? Sealing that submission envelope -- or pushing "send" on the email -- congratulations! I hope everyone has a productive day. I hope to continue working on my errant pbs; yesterday was a good day, thanks to my MN CP who helped with one of them. Here's to CPs!  :cupcake

Congrats on sending out your PB, Darshana. Wishing you luck. :star2

I missed another morning. We're running into lots of roadblocks around here lately, none of them major but all of them tiring and time-consuming--teething, perplexing changes in nap schedules, etc. Right now I'd like a nap, but I'm going to write instead.

Happy Sunday here, too. Temps in MKE are finally above single digits and I walked to a coffee shop this morning for an hour's uninterrupted writing, which I can start in about 5 minutes as soon as my chai is ready.

AnneB, an hour of uninterrupted writing over a glass of chai sounds fabulous. Hope it went well.

I didn't get much writing done this weekend, but I did finally get my Christmas decorations down. I was beginning to think they'd still be up next December.

Darshana, my first name is Miriam. I spent my childhood being the last one picked for every team forced to accept me as a player, so I was amused when I got married that my initials became MVP.

Here's to a productive work week!  :typing

AnneB, I'm a little jealous of your hour of coffee shop writing. Hope it went well!

MVP--Miriam--that's an awesome story about your initials. For some reason it makes me want to tell you about my elementary school softball experience. My coach put me in right field--where the ball went least often--and I promptly invented a game of standing in one exact spot in the grass and trying to make imprints there with my feet. I went back to that spot in every inning to make my imprints stronger. I got really annoyed whenever the ball came my way and spoiled the game. Needless to say, I was not voted MVP.

This is making me think of the Peter, Paul, and Mary song "Right Field." Do you know it? If not, do yourself a favor and watch it on youtube. It's the story of my life. Except for the miraculous ending.

Setting up the laptop just before 6:00 EST. A little later than I planned, but still 45 minutes to write if I get right on it. Trying to start a fight between two important characters today. Should be fun.  *evil chuckle*

Have a great day!

Good morning! Miriam and Melissa, what cute baseball stories! More snow to walk through, but I'm giving the coffee shop a break today and will be walking to the library instead (same distance, opposite direction, an inch of new snow) to pick up a book for DH that's on its last day on the hold shelf. Making some progress on the ms. but still stuck on the same scene I was Sunday. If I don't nail it today, I'm highlighting it and moving on to another one.

Miriam, good luck with that fight. Fists swinging, or just words slinging?

Anne, I hope you get that scene nailed today, and I know you'll get it sooner or later.

I'm making a royal mess of my first draft right now, and for once I'm actually enjoying it. Usually it gives me a sick-scared feeling to think about all the work it'll take to fix the junk I'm writing. This time I'm feeling the real story growing up under the surface, and I'm looking forward to digging in.

Good morning, fellow-toilers! I'm checking in late, here, but I have a good excuse! (Ready?) I just finished reorganizing all the files in the office -- ugh.  They're done, now, though. :yay Now I can write with an uncluttered mind, with any luck, which I'll need because I'm :stuck on a pb motivation for my MC!  Good luck on all the fixing, AnneB, Melissa, and MVP! Darshana, are you still stuck out in right field? ;) ;) Hope not!
Happy writing, everyone!

Cute Tori! I'm here. Yeah on the re-organization, can you come over and organize my stacks of papers too?? Pleasse. I have :cookie    Stuck on motivation, hmm .... I usually get stuck on the 'stake' part.
I'm just trying to find the right words for another PB revision.

Miriam - how did the fight scene go? did the characters give a 5-star performance? sounds like fun.
Melissa K - love your attitude. now go dig!
AnneB - Hope you were able to get some writing done at the library.

Glad to see everyone seems to be chugging along.

Tori, if you're willing to hire out your organizational skills, they are sorely needed in my office corner.

Darshana, if you're still looking for motivation for your characters, how about cookies?

Good morning!
Thank you all for your sweet "employment" offers, but, seriously, you don't want my organizational skills; it took me five years to bite the bullet and do it! ;)
Working on pbs after I bite another bullet (is there a smiley?) and go to the gym. Ugh! Definitely need :coffee3 for that!

Hi Melissa and Tori!
I didn't make it out of bed today. Hope to make up for it by working tonight on my PB after the kids go to sleep.

I made it out of bed, but unfortunately my three year old decided to be an early riser as well. So not much accomplished this morning. Sigh.

Did you make it to the gym, Tori? People who get up early to exercise are the ones who really amaze me. I can't do it. My novel and my children are the only things I love enough to pull me out of bed before the last possible minute. Exercise? Housework? Blow-drying my hair? Forget it.  :duh <--Me with my air-dried hair

Hi, All!
Yes, thanks, MVP, I made it to the gym and then fiddled with the laptop later, which will be the story today--afternoon writing, but happily knowing that you all are in my corner, as we all are for each other on this lonely thread!  :yup AnneB, that *was* clever! :)
Happy writing, everyone!

I got up and worked on my PB revision, got the kids out and then sat back down. I didn't think I could do it (was feeling flummoxed about the direction on some edits) but I did!! Revision is done. Will let it sit for a bit then send it out for another round of critiques!
I feel great right now. Of course now I have to hurry get ready and go to work.

Hope you all had a good writing morning.
