Yes, and I've just seen yours, which is equally cool. I get some of my best ideas in the shower too. But not in the bath. I always fall asleep in the bath. No baths for me  in November! (Yuk.) :)

I'm trying it for the first time this year.  My friend Tina persuaded me.   :hug  I've been enjoying the posts so far (including yours, Donna).  Thanks, Tara, for all your hard work in organizing this wonderful event for the rest of us.

Hey everyone,

I'm still without power due to Sandy and I realize others may be, too, so I am extending PiBoIdMo registration until at least November 7th.

While you do not have to register to follow along, those who register and complete the 30-ideas-and-30-days challenge are eligible for the agent and editor prizes, like picture book critiques.

Hope everyone affected by Sandy is doing well. Our home is fine, just without power. We are now staying with friends until we're back on the grid. But we realize we are lucky.

Ditto. This is my first PiBoIdMo and I'm having a blast - fuelled by the constant niggling fear that there will come a point when the fountain of ideas will dry up. Maybe even today...  :eek5

Took some time yesterday to do big picture/big idea brainstorming.....lists of universal kid problems/wants, universal kid loves (hooks), universal kid character traits/flaws....then will play a sort of mixed-up game of seeing which ones mix and match in funny ways.  Hoping some good stuff jumps out at me!

One or two ideas a day so far - this has been a good exercise for me. Like Lynda, though, I'm afraid of hitting that dry spell!

Today Kelly Light drives through roadblocks! This is very inspiring, as Kelly has SEVEN books under contract. (Might be more by now. They are multiplying like rabbits! LOL)

Also, she has an interesting character sketch exercise on her own blog from earlier this year. It will help illustrators come up with more ideas:

Tara, thanks so much for sharing Kelly's links! They totally rock! I always get my stories from catchy titles and as of today, I already have over thirty new titles and climbing, thanks to your generous (blockbusting) ideas!

Thanks!

Great link/post Tara! I really dig the last line:

Quote
There are a lot of wonderfully quirky picture books that are having their day out there. And you can bet that these books are not a result of market research. They are a result of love.
