Something Astronomical...I need HELP!

Discussion started on

I am not in dire pain or peril, in case you're wondering.
Just curios on how factual I should be when writing my WIP.  It involves a young keen astronomer and I'm wondering how much information a boy of eleven would know. My MC is almost obsessive and knows more than a boy of his age probably would, but I don't want to push it too far.
Any tips? Thanks. :catmoon:

Agreed. At that age, facts are so much easier to deal with than people!

Have you ever seen the show "How the Universe Works?" It is very good. I'm sure an 11 year old boy who is obsessive about astronomy would know everything on that show.

Ditto what they said. There's a fair amount of citizen science for astronomy, like Zooniverse and Citizen Sky. He'd probably know about or participate in those. Also, most planetariums and just about all of the observatories (like at universities and public installations) have programs for students and stargazing clubs. You can check out all of the above yourself for ideas. :)

He would find and regurgitate [without provocation] every obscure fact and ratio and statistic he can suck into his head.

I have a fourteen year old who has been obsessed with astronomy since age ten. He knew a LOT a at eleven. Partly because my husband is also into it. They stayed up nights with their celestron skyscout (for spotting) and orion lx90 taking time lapse picture of star trails, planets, and messier objects. I think he read Neil Degrasse Tyson's Pluto Files when he was eleven too. They can absorb an amazing amount of information!
