Do teens still say hottie?

Discussion started on

Do teen still say "hottie" for a really good looking guy or girl? And, if not, what do they say instead?

I can't think of any nouns that they'd use.  They'd say"hot," just not "a hottie."

Yeah, I don't hear "hottie" anymore except from moms...

That explains why I still use the word "hottie."

Yup, I just combed through the latest emails from my teen sister, and there are no "hotties." She says "hot guys," "attractive guy," "so hot." Hope this helps!

Yup, Robin and Salina, I'm showing my mom flag here.

thanks, NikkiS. Shoot. I had a good joke involving a hottie. Hot guy doesn't work as well.

This might sound kind of dumb, but sometimes if I'm wondering if people actually use a certain word--or how they use it--I'll do a Twitter search for immediate results.  Then I get to see who is using the term and what other sorts of things they've said.  Does it seem right for my character's age?  etc.

Although teen lingo differs in different parts of the country, I don't think that is commonly used much by today's kids.

Also viable: making up your own term for it so that you don't have to worry about it going out of style linguistically.

I'm in Texas, I hang out with teenagers a couple of times per week, and I don't hear them say "hottie."

Mostly, what I hear is, "Gross, I don't like her/him."

Lots of denial.

When they are talking about a music star they like, the girls say he's "so cute."  At least, that's what they say to me.

'Fit' has been getting some attention from my baby sister (now 21) for the past few years.  Or if the chap is extremely attractive, he's 'well fit' with the adverb 'well' used as a synonym for 'very'.  This may be unique to her assumed social class in England, though.

I have a couple of students who still say hottie. It's used more for emphasis though, like "MM hmmm, that guy is a HAWwwwTeee!" (the aw is our southern accent :0)) I'd say hot is more regular conversation. Or dope if they're trying to act all hillbilly gangsta.
